Setup Guide

When you first launch Recall, the setup wizard guides you through three steps to configure the application.

Setup Steps

Step 1: Word Integration

Configure how Recall communicates with Microsoft Word. You have two options:

• Recommended Mode (Apple Events) — Simpler setup, works out of the box
• Advanced Mode (Word Add-in) — Uses a local HTTPS bridge with certificate

Step 2: Model Downloads (Optional)

Recall includes bundled AI models that work immediately. You can optionally download additional models for enhanced capabilities:

• Llama 3.1 8B Instruct — Bundled, ready to use
• Phi-3.5 Mini Instruct — Bundled, ready to use
• ChatQA — Optional download for advanced query planning

Accessing Setup Later

You can return to the setup wizard at any time:

1. Click the gear icon in the toolbar
2. Select Setup from the menu

Skipping Setup

If you prefer to configure Recall manually, click Skip Setup in the wizard. You can always access individual settings through the Settings menu.
